KERRI HOMERICK, M.A.
Jungian Mind-Body-Soul Practitioner, PhD Researcher, & Educator
One-on-One Jungian-Somatic Therapy
Service Description
An individualized Jungian somatic session typically weaves together verbal exploration, kinesthetic awareness, symbolic inquiry, self-awareness, and somatic attunement in order to deepen awareness of the unconscious as it is expressed through the body and through ones lived experience. Rooted in the depth psychological understanding that psyche and soma are inseparable, the therapist may invite the client to notice, tend to, and/or unfold bodily sensations, tension, breath, posture, impulses, holding patterns, gestures, emotional shifts, or energetic states as meaningful expressions of unconscious material. Sessions are process oriented, encouraging curiosity toward whatever emerges in the present moment. Particular attention is often given to recurring patterns, complexes, emotional charge, trauma responses, spontaneous memories, and images. Somatic work may involve mindful, noninvasive touch, movement, and/or minor physical adjustments which will always be respectful, consensual, and client-driven. Consent will always be obtained prior to session and the client has the right to decline consent for any somatic practices at any time. Additional techniques may include various forms of creative expression, active imagination, breathwork, and education. By becoming attuned to the wisdom of the body and its subtle ways of knowing, the body becomes a bridge through which one enters into a more intimate and alive relationship with self, others, and world.
