Service Description

Depth oriented traditions ask: what are the unconscious patterns influencing our lives? Somatics asks: where and how is this unconscious material expressing in the body? Both ask: how might they shift if we turn toward them with curiosity, rather than ignore or disavow them? Depth psychology studies the terrain of what lies underneath the surface, attending to the hidden stories that shape both suffering and transformation. A Jungian approach considers spontaneous images, emotional patterns, life themes, the impact of personal and collective trauma, the role of creativity, spirituality, and imagination, and the presence of soul in daily life. Slips of the tongue, dreams, fantasies, triggers, synchronicities, repetitive patterns, unshakable problems, and symptoms are understood as meaningful expressions of the unconscious. These moments often point toward something repressed, unresolved, or longing to be understood. A somatic focus understands that psyche and soma are inseparable; therefore, in addition to depth psychological dialogue and inquiry, the practitioner may invite the client to notice, tend to, and/or symbolically unfold bodily sensations, tension, breath, posture, impulses, holding patterns, gestures, emotional shifts, or energetic states as meaningful expressions of unconscious material. Sessions are process-oriented, encouraging curiosity toward whatever emerges in the present moment. A depth-based somatic approach respects the wisdom of the interstitial body as a bridge through which one may enter into a more aware relationship with self, other, and world. In-person somatic work may involve mindful, noninvasive touch, movement, and/or minor physical adjustments which will always be respectful, consensual, and client-driven. Consent will always be obtained prior to the session, and the client has the right to decline consent for any somatic practices at any time. All sessions are individualized so as to uphold the client's preferences, and touch and movement-based work are never required but are available as options. Grounded in a soul-based perspective that honors the deep interconnectedness of all life, individual sessions open the potential for a deeper sense of belonging and awareness within oneself and with the world.
